The Vineyards

Byrne & Smith is one of Australia's largest family owned vignerons headed by Rob Byrne with brother Terry managing the vineyards. The Byrne family has shareholdings in vineyards spanning over 700 hectares in Australia's prime wine producing regions of Clare Valley, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Plains and the Riverland.

Today Byrne & Smith own 148 hectares of prime vineyard with varieties such as Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, White Frontignac, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Semillon, Gordo and Grenache.

The family philosophy is simple: 'produce the highest quality fruit, and ensure our winemaking enhances and brings out the best characters of the wine'. Scotts Creek Vineyard  :  Morgan – Riverland – Lower Murray Zone – South Australia

Scotts Creek Vineyard, owned by the Byrne Family since 2001, have had a close association with the wine industry of the region for over 40 years. The Scotts Creek property is adjacent to the River Murray, just 7km downstream from the South Australian historical township of Morgan on the Morgan to Blanchetown Road.

Glen Devlin Vineyard  :  via Waikerie – Riverland – Lower Murray Zone – South Australia

Owned by Byrne & Smith Pty Ltd and nestled on the picturesque River Murray the vineyard at Devlins Pound is situated on the Goyder Highway half way between Morgan and Renmark and is named Glen Devlin as it borders Devlins Pound where the early Australian legend of Paddy Devlin and his bastardly past came to a gruesome end.

Clare Valley Vineyard  :  Mount Lofty Ranges Zone – South Australia

Purchased in 2003, Flat View Vineyard, owned by Byrne & Smith is situated 5kms from Clare's main street and is opposite South Australia's finest country racecourse in the beautiful Northern Clare Valley at Stanley Flat and has 36.4 hectares of planted vineyards. The Stanley Flat area is the oldest grape producing area in the district and is sheltered by rising hills of the valley.

Eden Valley Vineyard  :  Barossa Valley Zone – South Australia

Eden Valley is an area of rugged beauty situated just 50 kms north east of Adelaide. This vineyard is located on the Lorkes Road near the township of Springton in the Eden Valley Region which is also part of the famous Barossa Valley Zone. This area was originally known as the Barossa Ranges.

Adelaide Plains Vineyard  :  Mount Lofty Ranges Zone – South Australia

This vineyard is located on Hillier Road, Evanston Gardens in the Adelaide Plains region, which is just 30 kms north of Adelaide amongst the market gardens and rose farms of Angle Vale and Virginia. This property consists of 60 hectares of a mixed variety of vines including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Chenin Blanc.
