The Byrne family is dedicated to producing interesting and appealing wines of the highest quality from the vineyards. Byrne & Smith Wines now encompass everything from the growing of the grape, making of the wine to selling the wine and has been involved in the Australian wine industry for three generations. We continue to endeavour to make the wines we sell the very best in their respective ranges and affordable to all. At the moment we export much of our wine to New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK, Europe and China markets.

In 1960 Romla & Eric Byrne first purchased the property Devlin's Pound near Waikerie in South Australia. Here began the passion for brothers Rob and Terry Byrne with vineyards and viticulture. The first vines were planted on the Devlin's Pound site in 1965 and the vineyard named Glen Devlin in tribute to Paddy Devlin.

In 1975 brothers Rob & Terry began to fulfil the dream of becoming a vertically integrated global wine business merging various viticulture, wine making and sales operations. The Company name Byrne & Smith Wines evolved from the “Byrne” surname of the brothers with "Smith" being the maiden name of their grandmother. From this small beginning Byrne & Smith Wines now produce wine sold both locally and overseas under varying labels.

Director Rob Byrne's vision is to bring together a family wine making business producing value in the bottle from the various vineyard locations. Although originally working as a Chartered Engineer, it is the Wine Industry that has become the passion in his life and continues to develop the business. In 2005, Rob's daughter Petria joined the business and assists in all marketing & label design, production and administration.

Fellow Director Terry Byrne is a Roseworthy graduate and has been involved in vineyard ownership and management for over 30 years with his goal to grow the best quality fruit, whilst conserving water and energy.

When Rob & Terry purchased the Scotts Creek/Brenda Park Vineyards, named after the area of wetlands, keen environmentalist Elise, wife of Terry took on the management of the office on site as well as heading the renewal of the wetlands on the property. Helping her achieve this goal were sons, Ryan and Jarrad.
